Many dogs have enjoyed the luxury accommodation provided by Riverview over the past few years and we were one of the few five star properties to accept up to 2 dogs. We have never used the term ‘one well behaved dog’ welcome, as we firmly believe that if our guests love their dogs enough to want to share their holiday with them, then that term is totally unnecessary. We do ask, however, that dogs are not left alone in the cottage and for your own covers/blankets to be used on the furniture if they are not partial to lying on the floor (which ours never have been!).

We supply plenty of ‘doggie bags’ and poop scoops and there is a regularly emptied Council Dog Waste Bin a short distance from our front gates on the river bank. There are dog bowls and spare leads in the cottage, if needed, as well as ‘pet fresh’ sprays and doggy shampoo and conditioner, but we would ask you to supply their own towels and bedding.
Northumberland provides many opportunities for dog walking and many of its wonderful beaches are open to dogs all year round. As well as miles of coastal walks, there are also lovely river walks to be enjoyed and for those pets (and their owners) who are much more energetic – there are extensive walks within the Northumberland National Parks.
We charge £5 per dog per week, 50% of this is donated to Canine Partners, who train dogs to help the disabled, and the other 50% is split between the Warkworth in Bloom and Warkworth Christmas Lights Appeal.
For those dogs who are unfortunate enough to need a visit to a vet during their holiday, (and one of ours can speak from bitter experience here after getting sand in his eye!) the Alnorthumbria Veterinary Group can be found at 2 locations:-
Belvedere Terrace, Alnwick (Tel 01665 602516)
1-3 Bede Street, Amble. (Tel 01665 713111)
