We would like to introduce you to our much loved holiday home.  Riverview is a spacious, detached, single storey, 2 bedroomed cottage which is fully furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard.  It is situated in the historical and picturesque Northumbrian Village of Warkworth overlooking the River Coquet.

We started going to Northumberland for our holidays back in 1999 and fell in love with Warkworth on our very first visit. Riverview was our first experience of accommodation in the village and we were impressed by its extremely high standard. We continued to holiday there twice a year until 2002, when we found ourselves with the opportunity to buy Riverview and, needless to say, we jumped at the chance. From the comments in the Visitors’ book, we were aware that other guests felt the same as we did about the cottage and we believed that we could improve still further on what was already excellent accommodation. Our improvements culminated in 2003 by the award of a 5 star rating by the Visit Britain Scheme (now Quality in Tourism) and we have continued to achieve this rating every year since then. We increased our holidays in Riverview to three times a year, although it was always a ‘busman’s’ holiday as we redecorated or refurbished where necessary. We had our final week’s holiday there in July 2009, as after 55 years of living in Bristol we have been lucky enough to retire to Warkworth and now live permanently in the village. As we live just a 10 minute walk from Riverview, we are able to look after it ourselves personally each week and remain totally committed to maintaining a high standard of accommodation and providing an excellent service to our guests. Our efforts are rewarded by the continuing high level of occupancy and the number of guests who return each year.

Anyway, back to the cottage itself.  Stunning views across the river can be enjoyed whilst relaxing in the conservatory at the front of the cottage, as well as studying the varied wild-life that pass by, either on the river itself or on its banks.  The nature watch in recent years has included deer, foxes, herons, cormorants and a wide variety of ducks and waders, including Goldeneye, Goosanders and Redshank.  In addition, there are the seals which regularly swim up the river from Amble at high tide to catch their daily quota of salmon.
